(Milcah Anila, Intern Journalist) Kabul: The shooting at the University of Kabul in the Afghan capital Kabul on Monday morning caused a great stir. The Afghan Interior Ministry said at least 25 people had been killed and injured in the incident. However, exact information on how many were killed and how many were injured was not disclosed.
According to a local media report, 20 people are expected to die. It is reported that three people suddenly started firing with guns while a book exhibition was going on at the university. The Iranian ambassador to Afghanistan attended the book fair. Upon receiving information about the shooting, police immediately cordoned off the varsity campus. Roads leading to the varsity were closed.
There was an exchange of fire between the gunmen and the police. A few hours later the situation came under control. Three gunmen were killed in a police counterattack. No militant group has so far claimed responsibility for the shooting at Kabul University. Prime Minister Modi has condemned the attack on Kabul University by armed terrorists.
