(Dharshini.G, Intern Journalist) CHENNAI : 41 fishermen from different parts of Tamil Nadu will reach home on Tuesday after being stuck in Iran for more than four months by a special flight after a initiative by
seafarers.
“The fishermen are from Kanyakumari, Tuticorin, Ramnad
and Nagapattinam and have been working in Iranian fishing
boats for more than a year” said L Praveen Kumar, General
Secretary, Maritime people’s Welfare Associates.
He added that “They signed off from the boats as the
contract was over and were about to return when the Covid-
19 crisis hit. They were having a tough time stuck there with
no income”.
