(Milcah Anila, Intern Journalist) Vijayawada: In the last 24 hours, 45,231 new corona cases were reported in the country. This brings the total number of cases to 82,29,313, according to the Union Health Ministry. The death toll rose to 1,22,607 from 496 at the same time, the health ministry said. The total number of recoveries in the country was 75,44,798 while the number of active cases was 5,61,908.
Active cases accounted for 6.83 percent of all corona cases. The recovery rate of corona patients has been steadily rising, currently to 91.68 percent, the health ministry said. The mortality rate was 1.49. The highest number of corona deaths in the last 24 hours was 113 from Maharashtra. As of the 1st of this month, 11,07,43,103 corona diagnostic tests had been performed, according to ICMR. Another 8,55,800 were tested on Sunday. About 70 percent of those who die have other chronic illnesses.
