(Satya Havilah, Intern Journalist) Lucknow: Sugar Industry and Sugarcane Development Minister Suresh Rana have instructed the officials to pay the outstanding sugarcane price to the farmers on a priority basis. No further delay in cane price payment should be tolerated. He was instructed to run all sugar mills soon and start all sugarcane purchasing centers before running the mills.
Rana on Wednesday made an in-depth review of the operation of sugar mills, setting up of sugarcane price payment and purchasing centers in the current crushing season 2020-21 through video conferencing. Additional Chief Secretary and Sugarcane Commissioner Sanjay R. Bhusreddy told them that in the current session, sugarcane crushing has started in 44 of the total 119 sugar mills.
26 More sugar mills have issued sugarcane indent for crushing. Thus, a total of 70 sugar mills have started purchasing sugarcane. 26 sugar mills issuing indent will launch a crushing session in a day or two.
The sugarcane minister said that the operation of the remaining sugar mills should also be started with full security.
It should be ensured that all the purchasing centers are started before the mill runs so that farmers do not have any inconvenience in supplying sugarcane. The sugarcane minister directed the sugar mills union managing director Vimal Dubey that the salaries of the workers in the cooperative sugar mills are outstanding, to arrange for its early payment.
