(Aditya Shaw, Intern Journalist): Delhi Police has detained 720 farmers. These farmer leaders have already entered Delhi with various organizations. Most of the arrested farmers are from Haryana and Punjab. Farmer leaders have decided to stage a sit-in at Rajghat due to a lack of space for picketing by the Delhi administration. This information was given by the national spokesman of the United Kisan Morcha Abhimanyu Kohar.
Kohar said that 720 farmers of Haryana, Punjab, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Kerala, and Tamil Nadu have been detained by Delhi Police. Most of them are also peasant leaders of Punjab and Haryana. He was detained while marching from Majnu ka Tila Gurdwara towards Rajghat in Delhi. All these farmers are housed in a sports complex.
Despite this, these farmer leaders are adamant on indefinite strike at Rajghat. Kohar said that for his peace-loving movement, the United Kisan Morcha is demanding a place for farmers in Delhi. But till now they have not been given any place. Therefore, they have decided to picket at Rajghat itself.
Today more than 25 thousand farmers will reach
He claimed that more than 25 thousand farmers will reach Delhi by Friday. Farmers in Punjab and Haryana have reached very close to the Delhi border. According to him, under the Delhi Cooch Program, thousands of farmers from Punjab, under the leadership of other farmer-leaders including Jagjit Singh Dallewal, Balbir Singh Rajewal, and Joginder Singh Ugrahan, have crossed the police barrier from four places on the Punjab-Haryana border. Whereas more than ten thousand farmers from Haryana have crossed Gharaunda under the leadership of Gurnam Singh Chaduni and reached near Delhi.
Harinagar Stadium made a temporary jail
Among the farmer leaders taken into custody, Shiv Kumar Kakaji, Jasbir Singh Bhati, Baldev Singh Sirsa, KV Biju said that all the farmers are enthusiastic and are ready to enter Delhi with tractor trolleys in large convoys. To keep the farmers in custody, Delhi Police has made Hari Nagar Stadium a temporary jail and all the farmers have been kept in custody there. Farmer leaders have made it clear that farmers will enter Delhi peacefully and are ready to make any sacrifice to fulfill their demands.
