(Deepshikha Gautam, Intern Journalist) New Delhi: About 95 lakh people have taken advantage of the digital life certificate scheme launched by the central government for pensioners. The special thing is that during the Corona transition, the pensioners did not have to visit the offices to get this certificate. The biggest problem for pensioners remains to be present in person at the disbursement agency for obtaining pension and obtaining a life certificate. It was more troublesome for the elderly and physically weak people. Such people could not personally appear before the Certifying Authority at all times to obtain their life certificate. But now most pensioners update the digital life certificate from home. From there the department keeps issuing pension after taking updates.

It is seen that after retirement, many pensioners start living with their families in some other place. There are some who are away from their children. In such a situation it is not possible for him to visit the pension office or the bank. If someone is not well, he has to face many difficulties. Since pension is an important source of income for senior citizens after retirement, they are trying to ensure that the life certificate is issued at the right time. After this, they appear before the authorized pension disbursing agency and submit their life certificate. His pension is released only after all these formalities. The Central Government had launched a scheme to issue digital life certificates to provide relief to pensioners across the country. The aim is to make it easier by digitizing the entire process of obtaining life certificates. After the introduction of the scheme, pensioners do not have to appear in person before the disbursing agency and the certification authority. They have got rid of many unnecessary obstacles. Pensioners of the Central Government, State Government, and other government institutions can avail of this service. Since November last year, 94.77 lakh pensioners have availed the scheme. There are more than one crore pensioners in the country. These include 50 lakh central government, fifty lakh state government, and about 25 lakh military personnel and pensioners of other institutions. A digital life certificate is prepared with the help of a biometric system.
