Saloni Subha ( Intern Journalist )Bihar’s leading opposition parties on Friday wrote to Election Commission of India, warning that the election that will be conducted between October-November in Bihar could turn into a”super spreader event” of Covid-19 case in the state.
In a joint appeal made during a virtual meeting with the Commission’s top officials, head of Opposition parties, including Congress, RJD, HAM(S), RLSP, VIP Loktantrik Janta Dal and left parties also urged the EC to ensure “substantial public participation and level playing field in 2020 Bihar polls.
On July 15, the opposition parties had submitted a similar memorandum to the Election Commission of India through Bihar’s chief electoral officer’s HR Srinivas.
“People expect the commission to ensure and satisfy the public that the entire polls exercise does not become a super spreader event”, the letter submitted on Friday says.
The letter highlight that 22,000 cases have been detected in Bihar so far and protection is that there will be an exponential surge in the number of cases, which would cross 1million mark by October -November.
