(Aditya Shaw, Intern Journalist): Amidst the coronavirus epidemic, Muslim devotees are reaching Mecca for the Haj, which is going, to begin with, simplicity on Wednesday. About 2.5 million people perform Haj every year, but this time due to the Coronavirus epidemic, the number of Hajis is very less. According to Saudi Arabia’s Hajj Ministry this year, only people living in the country will be able to perform Hajj, which is between 1,000 and 10,000. Of these, two-thirds of foreigners are one-third Saudi nationals.

Saudi Arabia is one of the countries worst affected by the Coronavirus in the Middle East, where more than 2,66,000 people have been found infected so far. Of these, 2,733 people have died. The Hajis have been asked to take precaution in Saudi Arabia due to the Coronavirus. Fathin Dawood, a Malaysian citizen studying in Saudi Arabia, is among the few whose Haj application has been approved.
After Fatin’s selection, officials from the Saudi Ministry of Health came to his house and were examined by Covid-19. He was then given an electronic bracelet, which monitors his movement. Apart from this, they have also been asked to remain isolated in the house for several days.
