Saloni Subha ( Intern Journalist ) Bharti Airtel Limited executive officer Gopal Vittal on Thursday indicated at another round of tariffs hikes, focusing on Telecom operator’s average revenue per user need to increase from Rs200 a month to RS300 a month, for a sustainable business model.
However, Vittal did not give any timeline for the next increase in call and data tariffs, He was addressing the analyst’ call a day after the company reported a loss of Rs 15,933 crores in the month of June quarter on the provision of Rs 11,746 crore made towards statuary dues. Airtel’s ARPU in the quarter was Rs 157, up from 154 crores in the March quarter.
Last time in December the company had raised tariffs by up to 42%.”The provision made for adjusted gross revenue related to dues should be considered” full and final”. The company also said it’s liquidity position is comfortable, implying no challenge in paying the dues ,. Said Badal Bagri Airtel’s chief financial officer.
The department of telecommunication estimated Airtel’ s dues at around Rs 43,780 crore, of which the Telecom has already paid Rs 18,000 crores to the government. “We have taken an incremental provision… This is full and final because as per supreme Court order this challenged, recalculated or reassessed “, said Bagri.
