(Anjali Shreya, Intern Journalist): A fire broke out in a hotel in Vijayawada in Andhra Pradesh. Fire tenders have overcome the fire by reaching the spot. This hotel was being used as a Covid Center. Other people trapped inside the hotel have also been evacuated safely, while 9 people have died. This accident happened at the Hotel Golden Palace. There were reports of 40 people in the hotel. There were 30 corona patients and 10 hospital staff.
The fire has also been controlled after a lot of hard work. The injured have been admitted to a nearby local hospital for treatment. Chief Minister Jaganmohan Reddy himself is keeping an eye on this whole accident and has instructed the administration to give better treatment to the injured. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has spoken to the CM and assured of all possible help. PM Modi has expressed grief over this incident.
At present, after overcoming the fire, the entire building has been evacuated and a large number of police forces are deployed on the spot.
Vijayawada Police Commissioner B Srinivasulu said, “The fire was reported at around 5:09 am, the fire was controlled in 25-30 minutes. 15-20 people trapped in the hotel have been rescued and sent to another private hospital. Some are in critical condition in the hospital. About 30 Covid patients and 10 hospital staff were trapped in the building.
