(Aditya Shaw, Intern Journalist): The All India Football Federation on Friday said that all the qualifier matches of the I-League and second-tier league this season will be held in Kolkata amid tight security and health protocols amidst the coronavirus epidemic. This decision was taken in the online meeting of the league committee headed by AIFF Senior Vice President Subrata Dutta.

The I-League is likely to start in November while the second-class qualifiers will take place in the third week of next month. However, it is mandatory for both leagues to get the approval of the government first. “In view of the available infrastructure and circumstances, it has been decided that the hosting rights of the I-League and second-class qualifiers should be given to the IFA, Kolkata,” the AIFF said in a release. AIFF will be responsible for security. The league department has prepared a standard operating procedure that will be strictly implemented.
