(Deepshikha Gautam, Intern Journalist) New York: The tricolor was hoisted for the first time in the US on Saturday to mark India’s 74th Independence Day in New York’s iconic Times Square. Consul General of India Randheer Jaiswal hoisted the Indian flag in New York. This special event was organized by the Federation of Indian Associations, a leading expatriate organization in America.
Addressing the function, Jaiswal said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has outlined India’s aspirations for moving ahead and building a new India and we are committed to taking our country forward on the basis of those aspirations. Jaiswal said that the celebration of India’s Independence Day is a celebration of friendship with this beautiful country (America). At the same time, FIA President Ankur Vaidya said that history has been created with the hoisting of the tricolor on Times Square. Former FIA President Alok Kumar said that this is indeed a historic moment for pride for all of us.
