(Aditya Shaw, Intern Journalist): West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar wrote a letter to Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday saying that the vandalism incident at the Visva-Bharati campus has “bowed his head in shame”. He said that there is an atmosphere of fear in Santiniketan and Central University officials are feeling insecure. A top official of the prestigious institute said on Tuesday that Vishwa Bharati University officials have decided that they would be allowed to use the Central Security Forces and will request Narendra Modi to intervene.
The governor said in his letter, “The events of August 17, 2020, at Vishwa Bharati University in Santiniketan have made everyone nervous. There is fear in Shanti Niketan, and the officers are feeling insecure. ” He said that Shanti Niketan is the essence and pride of Bengalis and a source of satisfaction and inspiration. “I feel very excited and energetic after every visit to this place.” Dhankhar said in his sharp letter, “What an irony! We could not save it from the goons who sabotaged the massive … a globally acclaimed institution without fear of police and administration. “
