(Pooja Dubey, Intern Journalist) After the self-reliant India App Innovation Challenge, the Government of India has launched the Swadeshi Microprocessor Challenge. Hardware for smart devices will have to be built under the indigenous microprocessor challenge.

This challenge is similar to the App Innovation Challenge in which companies can participate. Under this challenge, the 25 winning teams will get a total reward of one crore rupees. 

This challenge has also been launched by MyGOV and this challenge is also a part of the self-sufficient India campaign. Under this, hardware will have to be built for surveillance, transportation, environmental condition monitoring, smart fans, smart locks, and washing machines.

Hardware can also be manufactured for the defense and space sector. The challenge will be run by C-DAC, IIT Madras, and IIT Bombay in the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) operations.

This challenge will run for 10 months. Registration will start from 18 August and will run till 15 September 2020. This will be followed by the Quarter Finals between 16 September and 10 November 2020, the Semi Finals from 1 January to 15 March 2021, and the Final from 1 April to 15 June 2021. In the final, 25 teams will be selected and then on July 21, the top 10 teams will be selected who will get a fund of Rs 2.30 crore and will get help from the government for 12 months.
