Rishika Iyer (Intern Journalist): Doctors, policemen, and sanitary workers are not the only front liners severely affected by Covid-19. There has been a surge in the number of Journalists getting affected with the virus which has put field journalists into immense and unprecedented fear.
In the month of April, 50 journalists were covid positive from a media house in Mumbai. 35 journalists from Chennai, 19 from Kolkata, and so on. Most of the people affected are camerapersons and reporters. The editor of Jai Maharashtra said that running a live news channel is becoming more and more difficult as many people are getting affected by the virus.
In worldwide data, a total of 171 journalists have died in Latin America due to the virus. The actual figure may be much higher as not all of them might be tested and not all the results might be publicly told.
