(Anjali Shreya, Intern Journalist): After the release of unlock-4 guidelines by the central government, now the state governments have also relaxed the restrictions. In view of this, the West Bengal government has given permission to open the bank on Saturday except for the second and fourth Saturday of the month. In this regard, the notification issued earlier due to the Covid-19 epidemic has been canceled.
The banks, which usually operate on the second Saturday of the week, were asked by the state government to remain closed on weekends in view of Covid-19. In an order issued on 20 July, the West Bengal government asked banks to declare all Saturdays as holidays. But the order issued on September 3 said that the decision to allow banking operations on Saturday was taken in view of the current situation and the exemption from the government in various fields. The new order states that all bank branches will be allowed to operate on Saturday.
