(Anjali Shreya, Intern Journalist): Since Monday, Railways is running 40 clone trains in the country. Through these trains run on high traffic routes, passengers can expect to arrive at the destination stations 2-3 hours before the original (parent) train. An officer has said this. The clone trains will mainly be 3-AC trains. These will stop with fewer stops, higher speed, and before parent trains. Due to this, those traveling in an emergency or planning a trip at the last minute will be relieved.

According to the official, the stoppages of cloned trains will be limited to operational halts or divisional headquarters en route (if any). So the travel time will be reduced and it will reach the destination 2-3 hours earlier than the parent trains. He further said that we are assuming that at present, people will travel only in an emergency. Therefore, we want to ensure that all passengers traveling on high traffic routes get a place on the train.

Clone trains will be in addition to the currently running labor special train and other special trains. Railways said in a statement that the advance reservation period (ARP) for cloned trains will be 10 days. Booking has started on 19 September. Most of the cloned trains will run between UP, Bihar, Delhi, West Bengal, Andhra Pradesh, and Karnataka. The number and time table of 40 cloned trains have already been released.
