(Priyanka Gupta, Intern Journalist)Lucknow: The Yogi government of Uttar Pradesh is also preparing to collect rent from illegal occupiers of government land on the lines of compensation from the accused of damage to government property during political processions, picketing-demonstrations. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has given strict instructions regarding this. Additional Chief Secretary Home Avneesh Kumar Awasthi said that if someone takes illegal possession of government land, then the rent during the period of possession will also be decided. He informed that an action plan is being prepared with the officials of the Revenue Department for this, according to which action will be implemented soon.

On the instructions of the Yogi Government of Uttar Pradesh, illegal possession of mafia and criminals on government lands and properties is being freed under the campaign. Now in this episode, there will also be an action to recover the rent during the period of possession. It is believed that in the past, the illegal possession of government land has been free, the exercise of recovering the rent from the accused will start soon. So far, more than 300 crore properties of mafia and criminals have been seized in the state. The administration has also run bulldozers on several illegal occupied buildings.

More than 300 million assets of mafias and criminals seized:

Let us tell you that the process of police action is going on to clamp down on mafia and criminals in Uttar Pradesh. Police have taken strong action under the campaign in various districts of the state. On the instructions of DGP Hitesh Chandra Awasthi, more than Rs 300 crore of assets collected from black money of criminals have been seized under the Gangster Act this year. On Tuesday, in Lucknow Commissionerate, the police have clamped down on the mafia operatives including the notorious Mukhtar Ansari, Atiq Ahmed, Salim, Rustom, Sohrab, and Khan Mubarak. Raids were conducted in 42 locations simultaneously in Lucknow. Police have also arrested 11 criminals including Abhishek Babu and Shahzad Qureshi, close to Mukhtar.

8906 accused arrested under Gangster Act:

DGP PRO ASP Abhay Nath Tripathi said that between January 1 and August 31, police registered 2703 cases under Gangster Act in the state and arrested 8906 accused. Under the Gangster Act, in 439 cases, the police seized assets worth about Rs 266.31 crore of the criminals. In this series, Sitapur Police has seized 83 lakh properties in 12 cases of Gangster Act, 36 lakh of three criminals in the Gangster Act, and about 91 lakh of the accused of Sai Balrampur Police Gangster Act.
