(Manisha Mahar, Intern Journalist); WhatsApp 2.20.201.6 beta for Android has got a glimpse of the new feature, which will be called ‘Expiring Media’. As the name suggests, this feature will make media files sent to users such as images, videos, and GIFs disappear after a single view.

Initially, information about this feature was obtained through WhatsApp 2.20.201.1 beta. But the latest beta version has now suggested how this feature will ultimately work for users.

As seen in the screenshots shared by WhatsApp feature tracker WABetaInfo of WhatsApp 2.20.201.6 beta, the instant messaging app will inform users receiving the message about the expiring media feature via a pop-up message. This pop-up message will say, “This media will disappear once you leave this chat” (This media file will disappear as soon as you leave the chat). This message will be visible to the user on the shared media file using the new feature.

The reference has been part of the latest WhatsApp beta version, though the feature is not visible to end-users. However, in terms of the information revealed earlier, this feature is progressing, it can be expected that in the future it can be made available to at least beta testers.

Apart from expiring messaging features, it can also bring some new features, which have been part of the app’s plans for some time. Last month, clear evidence of this was seen in WhatsApp 2.20.197.10 beta.
