(Manisha Mahar, Intern Journalist); Researchers in the US say that as the cold increases and people gather in one place, the risk of corona will increase. In winter, people prefer to stay in homes, offices, or closed places. The risk of the virus spreading in indoor places is high.
In the summer in the southern states of America, people started gathering in AC offices and homes. Now the same trend can be seen in winter too. In such a situation, some preventive measures can be taken.
In indoor locations with poor ventilation, the effect of the virus remains far and long. According to an American doctor, who is doing research on the corona, the risk is worse in places with poor ventilation, such as most restaurants and bars. In such places, the virus remains more distant and longer. This summer, scientists found that viruses from the infected patient were spreading as small droplets (aerosols) up to 16 feet in the air inside the hospital.
The use of water and soap instead of all expensive appliances is the best solution.
There are a variety of expensive devices in the market to stop the spread of indoor viruses. They promise to clean the surface as well as make the air virus free. Experts say that most such products are overkill and harmful. Delfin Farmer, an atmospheric chemist at Colorado State University, says these fancy-looking things should be ignored. Water and soap still work in the most beautiful and better way.
Expert Joseph Allen of Building Safety at Harvard says that ventilation cannot be stopped by just fixing ventilation. Some collective efforts can reduce their risk. Avoid the crowd as much as possible. For example, encourage employees to work from home. Only give permit entry whose physical presence is necessary for the building. Install air filters in the building and keep the surface constantly sanitized.
