WhatsApp has a ton of great features but one thing that is no longer available is the ability to edit WhatsApp messages. If you want to remember to wish someone their birthday or want to send a message during a workout rather than having someone in the middle of the night, scheduling messages helps a lot. There are ways to organize messages on WhatsApp on Google and iPhone, but both are workarounds because this feature is not officially supported on WhatsApp.
Since the methods it suggests may work, there are some limitations, which we will explain briefly. Follow these steps given below to schedule messages on WhatsApp on Android and iPhone.
To schedule WhatsApp message on Android
As we mentioned above, WhatsApp does not have a formal feature for scheduling messages. However, if you are using an Android smartphone, you can edit messages on WhatsApp with the help of third-party apps. Yes, three third-party apps promise to do the job, but only one – SKEDit – does it perfectly. Follow these steps to know how to schedule a WhatsApp message on Android:
1. Go to the Google Play store> download and install SKEDit> open the app.
2. When you first submit, you will need to sign up.
3. Once logged in, you should tap WhatsApp in the main menu.
4. On the next screen, you must grant permissions. Tap Allow Availability> SKEDit> to change the Usage service> Allow. Now, back to the app.
5. You will now have to fill in the details. Enter the recipient, enter your message, set the date and time and select whether you wish to repeat the scheduled message or not.
6. Below, you’ll see one last change – Ask me before posting. First change> tap the tick icon> your message will be edited. When the date and time of your scheduled message arrive, you will receive a notification on your phone asking you to complete the action. Tap Send and you’ll see your edited message delivered in real-time.
7. However, if you save this Ask me before sending a togged off, in case you tap the tick icon, you will be asked to disable your phone lock. You will also be asked to disable your phone’s battery efficiency. To do this, your edited message will be sent automatically, which means you won’t be asked to provide any phone input, which you do process faster. But again, not having a screen lock affects your phone’s privacy, which is also a big factor. This is why we would not recommend editing WhatsApp messages in this way.
To schedule WhatsApp message on iPhone
Unlike Android, there is no third-party app available on iOS for editing WhatsApp messages. Moreover , there is another way to do this process by using the Siri app shortcuts, an Apple app will automatically send a message to your WhatsApp within the specified time. Here’s what you need to do to schedule WhatsApp messages on the iPhone.
1. Go to the App Store and download the Shortcuts app to your iPhone and open it.
2. Select the default tab below.
3. Tap the icon in the top right corner and tap on Personalization.
4. On the next screen, tap Day Time to schedule when to start working with your automation. In this case, select the dates and times when you want to edit WhatsApp messages. When that’s done, touch Next.
5. Tap Enter action and in the Text Type search bar and from the list of actions that appear, select Text.
6.Enter your messages in the text field after done with step 5. This message is anything you want to edit, like, ‘Happy birthday.’
7. After you’re done entering your message, touch the + icon at the bottom of the text field and look for a WhatsApp search.
8. Select send message via whatsapp from the list of actions that appear. Select a recipient and hit next. Finally, on the next screen, tap done.
9. Now for a limited time, you’ll receive a notification from the Shortcuts app. Tap the notification and it will open WhatsApp with your message attached to the text field. All you have to do is hit Send.
Also worth noting is that you can only edit WhatsApp messages for a week, which is kind of a donkey but at least now you know at least how to edit the message until the week is over.
If that’s too scheduled, you can always try this one. This is the most sophisticated Siri shortcut we have ever had but it organizes WhatsApp messages for any day and time if you prepare it correctly. It worked fine on one of our iPhones but continued to crash on the other, so your mileage may vary with this one. However, we have been able to organize the message using both methods so that you can choose the one you like.
