(Anjali Shreya, Intern Journalist): With the drop in temperature, pollution has also started showing its colour. On Sunday, the air quality reached a very poor range with the orange to red mark. A day ago, the air here was in the category of bad. On Sunday, Lucknow ranked 24th in the list of polluted cities. With this, the air has also reached the red mark in almost all the registered cities of the state.


The Central Pollution Board’s monitoring increased the Air Quality Index (AQI) in Lucknow by 50 points compared to Saturday. AQI was 264 micrograms on Saturday, which increased to 314 on Sunday. On the other hand, the air quality in Greater Noida is just eight points behind from reaching a dangerous situation. AQI 392 micrograms are recorded. Apart from this, pollution in other cities of the state Agra (309), Baghpat (369), Bulandshahr (346), Ghaziabad (379), Hapur (331), Meerut (363), Moradabad (363), Noida (362) are on red mark. The air here is in a very poor category, due to which respiratory problems can increase.
