(Pooja Dubey, Intern Journalist) Joe Biden has taken a major decision after winning the US presidential election. Under this, Indian-American citizen Vivek Murthy has been elected as one of the three chairpersons of the Covid-19 advisory board. This board will advise President-elect Joe Biden to deal with the epidemic. Due to Corona, 2,36,000 people have died in America so far.
Dr. Murthy has been the ‘Surgeon General’ of America in the past. He along with his two other co-chairs will lead the team of leading public health experts advising Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris on the deadly virus.
America is currently the country most affected by the Covid-19 epidemic in the world. Biden said that dealing with the coronavirus epidemic would be one of the most important battles before our administration, and experts would advise me. Murthy was the 19th ‘Surgeon General’ of America. He held this position from 2014 to 2017.
Murthy (43), originally from Karnataka, was appointed as the 19th Surgeon General of the US in 2014 by then-President Barack Obama. The UK-born idol was the youngest person to assume this responsibility at the age of 37. He was later removed from that post during the Trump administration.
Biden frequently refers to his interactions with experts, and Dr. Murthy and Dr. Kessler are the two most prominent individuals whom he sought during the public health crisis. The final results of the US election had come on Saturday. Joe Biden is elected the next President of the United States. Biden received 290 electoral votes from the Democratic Party, while his rival, Republican Party candidate Donald Trump, received 214 votes.
