(Milcah Anila, Intern Journalist) MELBOURNE: Even at the most tragic time, Team India young pacer, Hyderabadi Mohammad Siraj thought about the team’s interests. He endured the pain of losing his father and decided to end his Aussie tour triumphantly. He fulfilled his father’s dream of being selected for the national team. He opted to stay in Australia to fulfill his dream of becoming a cricketer.
It is learned that Team India is currently touring Australia for the ODI, T20, and Test series. Siraj had to hear the bitter news on Friday in this regard. His father, Mohammed Gauss, 53, who had been ill for some time, died yesterday.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is all set to send Siraj to India to spend time with family members during this tragic time. They said they had no objection if he wanted to go home.
The BCCI said in a statement that it had discussed the matter with Siraj and said he would remain with the team. Siraj said that he was facing a very difficult situation at the moment and that he would share his grief during this difficult time and support him in all possible ways.
Siraj, meanwhile, appealed to the media not to act in a way that would cause embarrassment to his family members. A statement to this effect was issued on Saturday in the name of BCCI Honorary Secretary Jai Shah.
