(Deepshikha Gautam, Intern Journalist) New Delhi: A total of 191181 people were vaccinated in the country on Saturday, the first day of the world’s largest vaccination campaign against the coronavirus. Ministry of Health has given this information. Let me tell you that the first dose of vaccine was given to the health workers deployed on the front fronts in India in the first phase on Saturday as part of the world’s largest vaccination campaign launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi against the coronavirus epidemic. Uttar Pradesh is number one in the states where the maximum vaccine is given. With this, the hope of ending this epidemic which has taken millions of lives and jobs in 10 months. India has taken the first step to beat the epidemic with covishield and covaxine vaccines and is being vaccinated at health centers across the country after around 10 million people have been infected and 1.5 lakh died in India.
Health workers as well as AIIMS Delhi director Randeep Guleria, NITI Aayog member VK Paul, BJP MP Mahesh Sharma and West Bengal minister Nirmal Majhi are among those who were given the first dose of the vaccine. Paul is also the head of the rights group on medical equipment and management to deal with the covid-19 epidemic. In his address to the nation before the start of the campaign, the Prime Minister said that it is very important to take two doses of the vaccine and there should be a gap of about one month between them. Even after taking the vaccine, he urged the people to follow all the guidelines related to corona and gave the mantra of ‘medicine as well as rigor.
He assured the people that their use has been allowed only after the scientists and experts are assured of ‘Made in India vaccines’ safety. PM Modi said that the vaccine will ensure a decisive victory in the fight against the coronavirus in the country. During his address, the Prime Minister became emotional when he referred to the suffering caused to the people during the Corona transition period, the loss of loved ones, and even the pain of not attending his funeral. With a sore throat, the Prime Minister recalled the sacrifices made by health workers and staff on the front, fearing infection during the epidemic, of which hundreds died due to infection. Before the start of vaccination, officials had said that 300,000 centers set up in different states and union territories of the country would have about three lakh health workers vaccinated on the first day and 100 people would be vaccinated in each session.
