(Sandhya Jha, Intern Journalist): The whole world is upset due to Coronavirus, but due to this, more people will be able to taste expensive mangoes like Alphonso and Saffron in India. The reason is their price drop by up to 30%. This decline is due to a decrease in exports. However, you may have to loosen the pockets more this year for another major mango Dussehri who has suffered the weather.

Alphonso, which used to be sold for Rs 700 per dozen in cities like Mumbai and Pune, is now being sold for 400 to 500 rupees. According to the mango traders of Gujarat, the saffron mango season has started now, and gradually they are starting to come in the market. Here production is expected to decrease due to weather.

However, due to poor export conditions, their prices are also expected to come down by 20 to 30% compared to last year.

Dussehra likely to remain 25 to 30% costlier
