Film actor Arshad Warsi is asking his fans and followers to consider buying his own painting. Their intention is to pay their electricity bill from the amount deposited with it. On Twitter, Arshad joked that he would need to sell his kidney next month. Actor Arshad Warsi has also said to sell some of his paintings for an electricity bill of Rs 1 lakh.
In a tweet on Sunday, Arshad said that Rs 1.03 lakh was debited from his account on July 5 for the electricity bill. In a separate tweet, he shared a news article about his pictures and pleaded with his followers to buy them. He wrote, ‘People buy my painting, I have to pay Adani’s electricity bill, Kidney is kept for the next bill.’ Actress Tisca Chopra said to him, ‘Before they sell out, you set a separate one for me.’

To this Arshad replied, “Okay … just let me collect the money for my bill.” Actress Shruti Seth wrote, ‘I am proud to be the mistress of your two pictures. I may have to sell one to pay my Tata electricity bill.’ One fan wrote, ‘But sir, I have to sell my kidneys to buy your painting’ Arshad is not the only celebrity battling his electricity bill. Taapsee Pannu, Soha Ali Khan, Neha Dhupia, Veer Das, Renuka Shahane and other Mumbaikars have tweeted that the electricity bill is 3-10 times more than the normal amount.

The power company had informed that the bills received by them include the actual readings taken after the waiver of lockdown and the total dues and revision details of March and April. Apart from Adani, other electricity companies like Mahadiscom, Tata Power and BEST have seen increased electricity bills during the lockdown. Tapsee and Soha later admitted that the bills were correct. However Arshad later tweeted that the matter has been resolved.
