(Manisha Mahar, Intern Journalist); The fake news from the video-sharing platform YouTube is going to be discharged soon. Google, which owns YouTube, said it is monitoring fake news and illegal content in association with South Korea. Google’s Senior Vice President Neil Mohan gave this information in video conferencing with the Korean Communication Commission (KCC) Han Sang-hyuk. The statement came after Han revealed fake news and misinformation related to Covid-19 on the South Korean social media platform.
Last month Google improved the subscription model of its Youtube Premium service in Korea. At the same time, the regulator also imposed a fine of $ 7,20,000 on Google for violation of telecom law. In March this year, Sundar Pichai, CEO of Alphabet and Google, said that the company had removed thousands of videos from Youtube that were dangerous and used to flow misinformation. The company has resorted to artificial intelligence-based technology to identify such fake news.
Also in January this year, Sundar Pichai informed about blocking hundreds of advertisements spreading misleading information related to coronavirus. In the era of Coronavirus, the number of misleading information on social media has increased. In this period, a campaign has also been launched by Google against spreading false information through fake photos. Under this, the company will be tagging each photo, so that after clicking on the photo, the complete information related to the photo will be available to the users.
