(Pooja Dubey, Intern journalist) Delhi: In the Shastri Park area of north-east Delhi, a drunken husband put acid on his wife and three innocent children. When the wife and innocent started screaming in pain, the neighbors reached there. The accused was caught on the spot with an acid bottle.
The arrested accused have been identified as Shahid. After the initial investigation, the police say that the domestic crime and intoxicated accused carried out the crime. Shahid always had a quarrel with his wife. Shastri Park Police Station produced the accused in the court from where he was sent to jail. Apart from the crime team, the FSL team has gathered evidence from the scene.
According to the police “Shahid lives with his family on the first floor of a rented house in street number 9, C-block, Shastri Park. He lived with his wife Mumtaz and three sons aged eight, six and four. Shahid sells fruit in the area. Often there was a quarrel over small matters in the husband and wife. Shahid is also addicted to drinking alcohol”.
Later everyone was taken by private vehicle to the nearest Jag Pravesh Chand Hospital. All were badly burnt due to acid. Seeing their condition, the hospital referred AIIMS to everyone.
At present, the condition of Shahid’s wife Mumtaz and four-year-old son in AIIMS remains critical. All four are currently being treated in the hospital. Police are investigating the matter by interrogating Mumtaz and Shahid’s family. It is also being ascertained from where the accused Shahid Tezaab was brought.
