(Riya Singh, Intern Journalist): On Thursday, West Bengal BJP leader Dilip Ghosh said that Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is busy fighting against the Center and the State Governor at a time when she should tackle the pandemic. Ghosh said, “West Bengal is in a severe crisis due to Covid-19 and the havoc caused by cyclone Amphan. When it is time to fight against Covid-19, Mamata Banerjee is fighting against Governor and Centre.”
Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee appealed earlier on Thursday to all political parties and trade unions to demonstrate against BJP and Centre, saying they are taking advantage of Covid-19. She accused Governor Jagdeep Dhankar of being a mouthpiece for the BJP on Thursday. Governor Jagdeep Dhankar said on Thursday that the political grip was scary.
The remarks came after 23 university vice-chancellors failed to turn up on Wednesday for a video call. The governor suggested the government incited the no-show.
