(Dharshini,G ,Intern Journalist) NEW DELHI – India’s number of coronavirus infections crossed the one million mark on Friday, almost half a year after the nation affirmed its first case on Jan. 30. It has become just the third country after the U.S. and Brazil to surpass the figure.

Authorities in the South Asian nation of over 1.3 billion individuals still insist there is no network transmission of COVID-19, even in the midst of reports that the infection has begun spreading to rural zones from megacities, for example, New Delhi and Mumbai.

“There are only a few regions which have seen localized outbreaks,” Rajesh Bhushan, a senior health service official, said at a media briefing.
