(Anjali Shreya, Intern Journalist): Online video streaming platform Disney Plus is pushing back the release of Marvel’s ‘Falcon and the Winter Soldier’ as the production work has been halted since March due to coronavirus shut down.
The show was forced to stop production due to a pandemic in May, The Verge has confirmed. Disney does not have a new premiere date for the show but hopes to share updates on it soon. Falcon and Winter Soldier were set to take over where Avengers: Endgame ended. Steve Rogers seems to have essentially retired Captain America after living a different life in an alternate timeline, and Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) has chosen the shield in his place.

While fans were anticipating the delay, not having a new Marvel show on the horizon is a shock. Two other large Marvel Studios productions, Black Widow and The Eternals have also delayed their theatrical release. Black Widow moved from 1 May to 6 November, while The Eternals was transferred from 6 November to 12 February 2021. It is unclear whether Marvel Studios’ WandaVision, which was moved from 2021 to December 2020, will also be affected.
