(Milcah Anila, Intern Journalist) New Delhi: Fastag will come into action across the country from January 1 next year. The central government has announced that it will make Fastag mandatory for all types of four-wheelers as part of its efforts to promote digital and IT-based toll payment systems.
Older vehicles that have been exempted in the past must also take Fastag. It will come into action from January 1, 2021. The Ministry of Road Transport and National Highways on Saturday issued a notification for the action.
Transport vehicles needed to be issued a fitment certificate only after it has been renewed. So every four-wheeler must and should have a fast tag. The Center has been implementing the Fastag policy since 2017 to control traffic near toll gates.
Mandated the implementation of Fastag nationwide in October 2019. Bikes in this order, Exemption from Fastag for older vehicles as well as three-wheelers. However, with the latest orders, Fastag is mandatory for all types of four-wheelers from next year.
