Mayor Kishori Pednekar said that all the schools falling under BMC jurisdiction will remain closed till 31 December. This decision has been taken in view of the increase in Covid-19 cases in Mumbai. Schools will not reopen on 23 November. In fact, the Maharashtra government had decided to open schools from ninth to twelfth from 23 November.
Like other states of the country, the Maharashtra government had also planned to reopen schools after Diwali. Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray had said that schools will be reopened after Diwali, taking all precautionary measures.
He had said that an SOP has been prepared to keep in mind all the standards of safety for students. Accordingly, schools will be taught under shift. However, the growing transition in the capital has once again undermined the government’s intention to open schools.
At the same time, the Uttar Pradesh government has said that once again colleges and universities will be opened in the state from 23 November. The government has said that during this time the attendance of students in educational institutions should be less than 50 percent. Under this decision, half the students will have to go to college and study. At the same time, half the students will stay online and study through an online medium.
