Saloni Subha ( Intern Journalist) when sports league started people were hoping that things are slowly getting normal in America, but in few weeks only a few players got infected with Coronavirus which affected the game badly. In America, the Cases were rising already and now the players and staff are getting infected with Coronavirus.
After the players got infected there is a doubt whether the games will be conducted or not, Major league soccer has started from 8 July while NBA will start from 22 July Major league Baseball from 24 July and National Hockey league from 1 August. The National Hockey league announced that out of 396 players of the club 23 were found Corona positive.
NBA ‘s 25 players and 10 staff got positive in just a week. last week NBA announced that between 23 and 29 June 351 players had their test and 25 got positive results. During this week 884 staff were tested out of which 10 reported positive.
Major league Baseball took samples of 3748 players out of which 58 players and 8 support staff also got positive results But, According to the NBA ‘s recent test there is a significant difference in the positive test rate between players and staff members. The NBA has a test rate of 7.1 percent while the staff rate was 1.1 percent. Zachary Binary an epidemiologist at Envoy University explained “This means that there is some difference in the players’ behavior which makes them sick more often than the staff.”
