(Pooja Dubey, Intern Journalist) Olympic finalist Deajah Stevens was banned for 18 months on Thursday for not giving a dope test and will no longer play the Tokyo Olympics.

The Athletics Indigency Unit said,” Stevens had not reached all three dope tests in Oregon and West Hollywood in 2019. There is a ban on not giving the test three times in a year”.

Their ban came into force from 17 February 2020 and will continue until after the closing ceremony of the Tokyo Olympics 2021. Stevens said that “officials could not contact him twice because of a phone malfunction”. 

She said that “once her phone battery was exhausted, once she changed the number due to repeated harassment on the phone. She can appeal against this ban in a sports tribunal.
