(Deepshikha Gautam, Intern Journalist) New Delhi : The Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah inaugurated the “Destination North East -2020” through virtual medium on 27 September. The Union Home Minister is also the Chairman of the North East Council.
On this occasion, Minister of State (Independent Charge) of the Ministry of North Eastern Region Development, Dr. Jitendra Singh, Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office, Personnel, Public Grievances, Pension, Department of Atomic Energy, and Department of Space and Chief Ministers of the eight states of the Northeast were also present.
In his address, Shri Amit Shah said that the North-East, rich in natural beauty, folk culture and art, is capable of becoming a major center of world tourism. Shri Shah said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the North East region will emerge as one of the favorite tourism and business destinations of India.

The landscape of scenic beauty here, a wonderful mix of local population chanting infinite vastness, gives a message to the whole world.

Northeast is the jewel of India, Indian culture is incomplete without it. While inviting the next function to be held in his constituency Gandhinagar, Shri Amit Shah said that this will make people of Northeast familiar with the culture of Gujarat and the people of Gujarat.
Shri Amit Shah said that peace in the North East is very important for the economic development of the Northeast and to boost tourism and employment. The Northeast, which was once in the limelight due to terrorism, is in the news all over the country in the six and a half years since Modi Ji became Prime Minister due to the development of industries and increasing opportunities for tourism.
The Union Home Minister also said that a lot of work has been done to establish peace in the Northeast under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. The surrender by thousands of militants, including the Bangladesh Border Agreement, Manipur’s Blockade, Bodo Agreement, and 641 cadres of 8 militant groups is a major achievement of the Modi government at the Center. Shri Amit Shah said that after becoming Prime Minister, Narendra Modi has visited more than 30 North East, after independence he is the most North East going Prime Minister.
The four-day event will feature audiovisual presentation of state and region tourist destinations, messages from famous and achievers of the state, prominent local entrepreneurs and will feature a virtual exhibition of handicraft / traditional fashion / and local products. The Chief Minister and Tourism Minister of all eight states will give a special message in the program. At the same time, the states will showcase a combination of their cultural programs and mixed cultures.
