Rushikonda is one of eight seashores suggested for the name. The proposal was on the event of International Coastal Clean-Up Day. 

A free public level jury including prominent earthy people and researchers have made these proposals. Blue Flag seashores are considered the cleanest seashores on the planet. Rushikonda is the main seashore in Andhra Pradesh and one of 13 seashores in India competing for the Blue Flag eco-name appointed by the Denmark-based Foundation for Environmental Education.

Around Rs, 7.3 crores have been spent on Rushikonda seashore to furnish it with different foundation offices to coordinate norms for affirmation. The Blue Flag accreditation targets guaranteeing waterfront insurance and upgrading of neighborhood employments through economical the travel industry exercises. 

Components considered for accreditation include nature of washing territory, seashore the board, assurance of ridges and vegetation, keeping sea shores spotless and liberated from plastic, contamination and other non-biodegradable waste, security and making the seashore condition companions.
