(Rishitha Jaladi, Intern Journalist)Delhi: Kashikha Prajapath, an IIT Student, designed an app with the aid of KOPAL-19. This Plasma Bank helps us to find the accurate plasma donor for the COVID-19 patient. Initially, she thought of creating an app that would help to track the status of COVID patient’s health.
In this regard, she visited a renowned doctor at AIIMS and got to know of the fact that plasma donation is a big challenge in fighting the virus. Hence she started working on it. Finally, she composed an app named COPAL-19 with the caption “Help to Save a Life, Donate Plasma”
Interested donors can register in this app entering their name, mail ID, Phone no, Blood group, Hospital they got discharged from, and the details of the Doctor. Additionally, they should also mention Symptoms and health status. This information is reviewed by the Doctors and they’ll decide whether that person can donate a plasma or not.
Usually, The Plasma of the recovered COVID patients contains COVID anti-bodies which have the ability to fight against the virus. So when these anti-bodies are introduced in the COVID patient via Plasma, He will have the capacity to fight against the virus. Hence, awareness programs are created, asking the recovered patients to donate Plasma.
