(Rishika Iyer, Intern Journalist): Prime Minister Narendra Modi is all set to inaugurate Asia’s largest solar power plant on the 10th of July. situated in a small district of Rewa in Madhya Pradesh, the power plant is spread across 1,590 acres of land. This news was announced by the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh Mr. Shivraj SIngh Chauhan. Along with PM Modi, the Union Minister of Power and Renewable Energy Mr. RK Singh will also attend the inauguration ceremony. 

Reports say that the ultra mega power plant has a solar capacity of 750MW. This project is said to be priced at 4000 crores. For building this solar plant, a loan worth US$ 30 Million was taken for the infrastructure in January 2018. This project is a joint venture between Rewa Ultra Mega Solar Limited (RUMSL) and Madhya Pradesh Urja Vikash Nigam Limited (MPUVNL). RUMSL was set up by the Solar Energy Corporation Of India (SECI). 

It is said that the Delhi Metro Rail Services will receive over 24% of all the power generated in Rewa Ultra Mega Solar Limited. This is an excellent initiative taken under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi who aims to generate 100GW of solar power by 2022. It is one of the biggest steps the government of India has taken towards depending on more environmentally friendly sources of energy.
