(Dharshini.G, Intern journalist) Rangia/Guwahati: Around hundred patients broke out of a COVID Care Center in Assam’s Kamrup area and blocked National Highway 31 on Thursday, asserting that they were not given appropriate food and water, authorities said.
Kamrup Deputy Commissioner Kailash Kartik alongside police hurried to the office in Changsari and requested that the patients clear the highway and return to the care center so that the issue can be settled through discussions they said.
In any case, after confirmations the patients came back to the center, an official said. The patients claimed that they were not given food and water and the state of the beds was likewise not sufficient while 10-12 of them were kept in one room.
The deputy commissioner guaranteed them that their claims will be investigated and endeavors will be made to address those, the official said.
Health and Family Welfare Himanta Biswa Sarma said if the patients are disturbed at the COVID care office, they can opt for home isolation.
