Lucknow: SP leader in Sitapur Jail and MP from Rampur Azam Khan may have difficulties. The CBI can also take up the case lodged at the Ajimnagar police station in Rampur for misappropriation of Waqf properties.
On the complaint of Lucknow resident Jamir Naqvi, last year, a case was registered against Azam Khan, wife Tazin Fatma, son Abdullah Khan, the then Shia Central Waqf Board chairman Wasim Rizvi, Sunni Waqf Board Chairman Zufar Farooqi besides four others of the Waqf Board had gone.
Zameer Naqvi had alleged that in connivance with the two Waqf Board presidents, the enemy property was first recorded in the Waqf Board property and then used by Azam as per his own. Now the CBI is going through the documents in this case.
When the assets of the Waqf Board were rigged, Azam Khan was a cabinet minister in the SP government and he was also with the Waqf department. At the same time, the FIR registered in Prayagraj and Lucknow which CBI is investigating, Azam was also the Waqf minister during that time.
