Meanwhile, French opposition leader Marine Le Pen has sparked a new debate demanding a ban on migrants from Pakistan. On Friday, a violent mob of thousands of people attempted to attack the French embassy in Islamabad. At the same time, Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan is also making statements against France these days.
Marine Le Pen wrote in tweeting that in view of the violent protests in Bangladesh today, I demand an immediate ban on migrants from Bangladesh and Pakistan in the name of national security. He claimed that protesters in Bangladesh talked about slapping the French ambassador. Their demand is also getting the support of a large number of French people.
Demonstrations turned violent in Pakistan’s capital Islamabad when around 2000 people tried to go to the French embassy. Police fired tear gas shells and used sticks to disperse the protesters. Protesters shouted slogans and blocked roads in Lahore, Pakistan. Protesters in Multan burnt an effigy of French President Emmanuel Macron.
