Aatmja Kumari(Intern Journalist): The Chainpur assembly seat is one of the 243 assembly seats in Bihar. It is a part of the Kaimur district. This area comes under the Sasaram Lok Sabha seat. In the first election held in 1957, Gupta Nath Singh of Congress became an MLA. Bal Kishore Bind of BJP became MLA here in 2015. Here is the memorial of Bakhtiyar Khan. Bakhtiar Khan is said to have married Sher Shah’s daughter. The fort at Chainpur was built during the Suri or Akbar period. Apart from this, there is also a famous Hindu temple named Harsu Brahma. It is said that King Shalivahana’s priest Harsu Pandey lost his life at this place in defense of his house.
The biggest assembly seat of the Bhabua district is Chainpur. It includes Chainpur, Chand, Adhaura, and Bhagwanpur blocks. Here in the year 2015, there was a strong fight between BJP and BSP, in which BJP won by about 600 votes. This time also both the faces are in the field again. The Grand Alliance is also in the fray. This time the fight here has become quite exciting due to the entry of the Azad Samaj Party and an independent candidate. In the year 2015, both BJP and BSP got around 58 thousand votes. Current MLA and Mining Minister Brij Kishore Bind is once again an NDA candidate on a BJP ticket. From the by-elections of 2009, he has been an MLA from Chainpur till 2015. In the year 2000, he also contested from BSP on the Bhabhua Assembly seat but was not successful. After this, for the first time fought elections from BJP from Chainpur in 2005, but also lost in it. He won the 2009 by-election. He has been becoming an MLA since then.
BSP has won from this seat. Zaman Khan has been made a candidate. He has also contested three times. In the previous year 2015, he had to face defeat by very few votes. Once on a Congress ticket, he has tried his luck in the by-elections. Prakash Singh of Congress is in the fray from the Grand Alliance. Presently he is also the General Secretary of the State Farmers’ Cell of the Congress. At the same time, with the arrival of Independent Neeraj Pandey, the competition has become tough. This time, Diwan Arshad Hussain Khan of Azad Samaj Party is also humming.
