(Anjali Shreya, Intern Journalist): Floods in Bihar’s Darbhanga district and incessant rains in the region have severely affected people.
People are struggling to feed their families and cattle, and are forced to live on the streets as homes are submerged. “After flooding our homes, we have no place to sleep,” Jagdev, a resident of Dilahi village, said.
Jagdev said, “No work has been done due to the current situation and the government has not helped in this regard.”
Another local, Lal Vardha Yadav said, “Our houses have been submerged in floodwaters. As a result, we are living on the streets.”
The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has deployed 21 rescue teams in Bihar.
NDRF DG SN Pradhan said on Thursday that the monsoon is above normal this year and there has been heavy rainfall. This is causing a flood-like situation in different parts of the country. Bihar and Assam are sensitive areas affected by floods.
