Suparna Ghosh (Intern Journalist) Kolkata : West Bengal BJP MLA Debendra Nath Ray was found dead under mysterious circumstances near his home in North Dinajpur district on Monday. The case seems to be suicidal as the body, aged about 60 years was found hanging from the ceiling of a verandah outside a shop in Bindal village in Hemtabad area.
His family stated it as “cold-blooded murder” and had held TMC responsible for his death. As said by the cops, a suicide note has been found in his shirt pocket where he had blamed two people behind his suicide. The forensic team has already done their job of sending the body for postmortem, also thorough investigation has already commenced.
West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankar tweeted, “ Death of Debendra Nath Roy, Hemtabad MLA- Uttar Dinajpur District, raises serious issue including allegations of murder.”
The BJP leader’s family had asked for CBI inquiry into the case, saying they suspected that it was a murder. His death has raised a lot of controversies and hence this investigation needs to be addressed immediately as it already made a serious affair in the political scenario.
The North Dinajpur district has called for a complete shutdown from 6 am on Tuesday in his memory.
