(Namita Pradhan, Intern Journalist)New Delhi; After the Right to Information applicant need answers on the response to India’s Covid-19, the Central Information Commission (CIC) asked the Ministry of Health to “compile all measures took by various ministries and to arrange them chronologically on their website.”
The recent order was issued from the chief information commissioner Bimal Jhulka stated to the RTI “application has shuttled from one division of public authority to another it indicates its very urgent requirement for collating the information.
The applicant reached all the higher bodies, which includes ministries for external affairs, home affairs, health, Indian Council of Medical Research, National Centre for Disease Control, and NITI Aayog seeking answers.
The applicant needs answers to questions like the date on when the center got information on viruses affecting China and details of the meeting it carried out regarding a potential health crisis between November 2019 and March 2020.
Seeking an answer to know how the center was planning to control the pandemic between March 5 and 14, when deaths on China and Europe had already crossed 4000 and 6000, respectively. He had sought the minutes of meetings had between the higher officials on this matter.
The application has also asked if India has sought China’s assistance in getting information bout the nature of the spread of the Virus, apart from specifically asking about the date “on which the health ministry first communicated with Prime Minister’s office on the possibility of a virus affecting the Country”.
