(Namita Pradhan, Intern Journalist) Odisha; It is a traditional Odia cuisine. It looks similar to the sponge cake and also similar in texture. It has a burnt taste with sweet sugary flavor paneer. The dish was prepared accidentally as a bakery owner when he decided to preserve the sweetened chenna in the preheated oven it turns out to a delicious cake-like dessert. It can be baked with or without the oven in a pressure cooker. So let’s proceed to make the delicious recipe.
Ingredients-
- Crumbled paneer
- Sugar- ¼ cup
- Rava/ suji/ semolina- 2 tbsp
- Ghee/ clarified butter- 1tsp
- Almonds- 5 no
- Kaju/ cashew- 5 no
- Cardamon pwd- ¼ tsp
Method-
- Take the crumbled paneer in a large bowl
- Add sugar and semolina
- Mix it until the sugar melts completely on the crumbled paneer
- Add water as required and prepare a smooth batter similar to the consistency of cake
- Mix the batter for five minutes to get a thick consistency
- Add ghee, cardamom powder, and the dry fruits into the batter
- Mix it well and transfer the batter into the mold. Place the banana leaves in the mold and then pour the batter.
- If you are baking it in the oven then bake it at 180 celsius for 15 minutes. If you are cooking it in a pressure cooker then cook it in medium flame for 25 minutes.
- The Chena poda is ready, refrigerate it as it tests more yummy when it’s cold.
Serve it cold , You can store it in refrigerator until a week.
