(Anjali Shreya, Intern Journalist): The matter of the removal of Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir seems to be catching on again. All the major political parties here have announced to come together for the restoration of Article 370. The political parties of Jammu and Kashmir released its manifesto on Saturday.
The joint statement issued by the parties has sought to restore Article 370. This announcement of the parties has been welcomed by Congress leader and former Union Minister P. Chidambaram. He has saluted the 6 parties which have united against the decision of the Central Government.
Chidambaram wrote in a tweet on Sunday, Salute the unity and spirit of the mainstream parties united for the restoration of Article 370. I appeal to them to stand up for their demands. Ignore the criticisms of self-proclaimed nationalists who do not read history, but try to rewrite history. There are many examples of special provisions of states in the constitution of the country. If the government opposes the special provisions, how can the Naga issue be dealt with?
In the manifesto that the parties have made for the restoration of Article 370, Farooq Abdullah of the National Conference, Mehbooba Mufti of PDP, GA Mir of JKPCC, MY Tarigami of CPI-M, Sajjad Gani Lone of JKPC, Muzaffar Shah of JKNC are included.
