(Deepshikha Gautam, Intern Journalist) Patna: After the death of veteran Dalit leader Ram Vilas Paswan, the question has arisen in political circles whether LJP President Chirag Paswan will be able to handle the father’s legacy with the help of possible sympathy? However, after the death of Paswan, it will not be easy for JDU and BJP to directly attack LJP. Ram Vilas Paswan has been the most accepted and most powerful leader of the Dalits. With his death, Dalit’s sympathy for LJP is natural.
However, after this, the phase of challenges for his MP son Chirag is about to begin.

Their political future will depend to a large extent on the outcome of the Bihar assembly elections. The better performance of the party in the election will not only give new heights to Chirag’s political stature, but Paswan’s legacy will also be stamped in his name. Conversely, if the party does not perform well, troubles will begin for Chirag.
Chirag’s desire to become a minister in place of Paswan at the center will also be determined by the performance in elections.

Chirag himself had a strategy against JDU in the election with BJP. Like in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, Paswan joined the NDA under pressure from Chirag. However, then Paswan was commanded by the party and there was no situation to question the party’s legacy during Paswan. Now the situation has changed after Paswan’s death. Chirag has differences with Paswan’s brother Pashupati Paras. Pashupati was not happy with Chirag commanding the party.

Obviously, if the results of the election are not favorable, then the revolt within the Lok Janshakti Party will intensify. JDU’s troubles have increased with the death of Paswan just before the election. CM Nitish Kumar had very cleverly reduced the base of LJP among the Dalits in the state by playing the Mahadalit card. The main reason for our chief Jitan Ram Manjhi to be tried at the last minute was not to allow LJP to form a base among the Dalits. Now sympathy arising out of Paswan’s death can unite all the clans of the Dalit community in favor of LJP.
The other problem of JDU has been to avoid direct attacks on LJP by BJP. Prior to the announcement of the alliance, BJP had rejected the demand of Nitish to oust LJP citing Paswan’s illness. Now that Paswan has passed away. In such a situation, both the BJP and JDU are not in a position to make a scathing attack against LJP. BJP has got a big excuse not to attack LJP.
